Dr. David Byun

Dr. David J. Byun is a board-certified radiation oncologist dedicated to providing personalized, evidence-based cancer care to the Manchester and Greater Hartford communities. He specializes in advanced radiation techniques for the treatment of genitourinary, thoracic and other malignancies, combining cutting-edge technology with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
Dr. Byun earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, followed by an internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and residency in radiation oncology at NYU Langone Health. Before joining the Greater Hartford medical community, he served as Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology and Founding Director of the MR-Linac Program at NYU Langone Health, where his academic and clinical work focused on prostate cancer.
His clinical expertise includes stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), high-dose-rate (HDR) prostate brachytherapy, adaptive radiation therapy, radiopharmaceutical therapy, and low-dose radiotherapy (LDRT) for benign conditions such as osteoarthritis.
Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Byun serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology: Clinical Cancer Informatics and is actively involved in research focused on improving prostate cancer treatment and digital health innovation. His contributions to the field have been recognized with several awards, including the Radiation Oncology Institute Personalized Radiation Therapy Research Award and the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award.
